Walking

Beaches

There are several beaches within easy reach of Hungry Monk Cottages. The closest are a few miles away in Eastbourne, but Pevensea, Seaford and even Brighton are still less than 45 minutes by car.

Charleston Festival 25th May - 3rd June 2012. The Charleston Festival takes place over a 10 day period at the end of May. The festival takes place in a traditional marquee in the beautiful grounds of the farmhouse garden and regularly attracts a stimulating array of writers, performers, politicians and thinkers, both high profile and up and coming, national and international. www.charleston.org.uk/festivals

Michelham Priory is a very beautiful historic property nestling deep in the Sussex countryside and offers much to interest visitors – history, exhibits, superbly kept gardens, art exhibitions, wildlife, working watermill. http://www.sussexpast.co.uk

Drusillas is a famous local zoo and animal park that has won numerous awards. It is the perfect place to go for the whole day and enjoy meeting the penguins, monkeys, meerkats, leemurs and so much more, ride on the Thomas train, play in the adventure playground and so much more… www.drusillas.co.uk

Middle Farm is a 625 acre working family farm. Meet the animals, play in the playground, have a picnic, buy something delicious in the food shop or stock up on presents in the brilliant toy and gift shop. www.middlefarm.com

Local pubs

The Ram at Firle serves really good local food as well as locally produced cask ales. There is a large walled garden at the back and inside the three bar areas have open fires which are lit every day from October till April. www.raminn.co.uk

Villages and Towns

Eastbourne is a busy seaside town with plenty of attractions and fun things to do for all ages.
